Equipment nameplate scan

Exploring

Photograph a unit nameplate and auto-fill model, serial, and install date.

Overview

ServiceTitan Atlas on Field Mobile reads equipment nameplates from a photo. Thorbis equipment entry is manual.

What we're building

Typing a model and serial number off a faded equipment nameplate, in a cramped mechanical room, is slow and error-prone, and a wrong digit makes the whole record useless later.

Thorbis is exploring nameplate scanning that lets a tech photograph the unit and pull the model, serial, manufacturer, and install date straight from the image. The tech reviews the read details before saving, then the scan creates or updates the property's equipment record. Cleaner equipment records mean faster lookups on the next visit. It is built for field crews who would rather snap a photo than squint and transcribe.

What you'll be able to do

  • Camera capture of equipment nameplate
  • OCR for model, serial, manufacturer, date
  • Human review before save
  • Create or update property equipment record
  • Skip typing model and serial numbers by hand
  • Build accurate equipment records from a photo
